Dear Friends:

Welcome to the Save Tara, LA Gathering website. We're having a event on Saturday, September 22 in support of the Hill of Tara, an endangered World Monument and Sacred Site. We will celebrate it in word and song - and demonstrate to stop its imminent destruction by the Irish Government and the M3 Freeway.

This LA event is an informal gathering of Artists, Activists, Scholars and all Lovers of Tara - So we invite you to come, bring a song, story or poem about Tara or Ireland to share, or you can just come and listen. Beautiful film footage and images of Tara and Ireland provided by Maireid Sullivan.

Special Guests include Harpist Aedan MacDonnell, T. S. Kerrigan, writer, poet and Tara activist; Folk duo Nougat; and Celtic band Publin Draught. If you're planning to share something, please RSVP to make sure you get a chance.

We will be filming this event to share on YouTube with activist websites and protesters around the world. We will also be signing petitions to Minister Gormley and delivering them to the Irish Consulate in Los Angeles the following Monday.

This Gathering is in conjunction with large demonstrations being held on Saturday, September 22, 2007. There will be a Tara demonstration in Dublin, Ireland where the Harpers of Ireland, along with other artists and activists, will protest and present their Harpers Petition to Minister Gormley. And singer Susan Mckeown is organizing another large demonstration in front of the Irish Consulate General in New York City. Other demonstrations are forming around the country and we will post them here as we get the flyers.
